This short walk with a staggering view, changed the life of the guide-book writer-to-be, Alfred Wainwright, after he walked to the top of this hill from Windermere station when he was 23.

With views looking over Windermere and into the heart of the fells, the ratio of view to effort is one which is difficult to beat.

This is an ideal walk for those in search of an excellent viewpoint of the southern Lakes and despite being a shorter walk, the views are worth seeing before exploring the rest of the Lake District.
