The parade to celebrate the extraordinary success of Team GB and Paralympics GB at this summer’s Rio Games will be taking place in Manchester city centre on Monday 17 October.

Up to 200,000 people are expected to line the streets to cheer on the convoy in the evening, with the parade setting off from the Museum of Science and Industry at 16.30 and ending around an hour later at Albert Square, where there will be a civic reception.

Customers travelling to and from Manchester on Monday are advised that the city’s train stations will be busy throughout the evening. Visitors will be coming to the city from far afield to celebrate with our athletes, with park and ride schemes also operating.

We urge customers to plan ahead and allow extra time for any journeys to and from the city.

Crowd management systems will be in operation at stations to ensure the safe and smooth running of services.

Please also be aware that Deansgate station in the city centre will be closed from 16.00.
