Northern is investing £1 billion to transform rail travel in the North and the introduction of ticket gates in a minimum of 8 locations between now and April 2017 forms just a part of this.
We have now turned on our new ticket gates at Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan Wallgate. To pass through these gates you will need to possess a valid ticket for travel. Tickets can be purchased online, via our mobile app, self-service ticket machine or ticket office. Please make sure you have your ticket ready when you approach.
Ticket gates can capture your ticket if you have completed your journey. If you need proof of purchase please make sure you get a receipt when you buy your ticket. All retail locations can provide this upon request.
Ticket gates will help improve your journey through main stations at peak times and avoid congestion. Gates will also help us reduce the number of passengers travelling without a ticket, improve security and discourage anti-social behaviour.
