We have secured 240 jobs from collapsed Carillion by bringing the exisintg Customer Experience Centre in-house and through securing a new contract with facilities management provider ISS.
The customer excellence team, based in Sheffield, supports both Northern’s and Grand Central’s passenger operations and 40 colleagues will transfer from Carillion to become permanent employees of Northern or Grand Central. This transfer will take place during the next few weeks following colleague consultation.
Carillion was also responsible for maintaining and cleaning Northern’s 477 stations.
The station maintenance and cleaning programme is delivered by around 200 colleagues, who will transfer to become permanent ISS employees following consultation. ISS has been awarded an initial 12 month contract during which time Northern will assess its long-term needs on facilities management with a view to putting in place a long-term plan.
