The North is home to some of the country's most breathtaking beaches and views. You'll find traditional seaside destinations dotted along the North-East coast from Whitley Bay down to Skegness, while an awe-inspiring scene awaits you along the wild Northumberland coastline and vast stretch of sand at Bamburgh. The monumental sand dunes of Formby on the West coast of Lancashire might even give you a view of Blackpool tower on a clear day, while Blundell Sands near Crosby is also worth a visit to see Antony Gormley's sculptures of one hundred iron men staring out to sea.
If you fancy slowing things down for a minute and getting back to Nature, the North has a wealth of areas of natural beauty to enjoy. In Derbyshire's Peak District National Park you'll find the Heights of Abraham where a cable car will take you from the valley floor up 169 metres, giving spectacular views across the Peak District and Derwent Valley. There's also the Masson and Rutland show caverns to visit if you don't like heights! For more areas of outstanding beauty there's also The Yorkshire Dales and Moors, as well as the stunningly beautiful Lake District and the more rugged charms of the North Pennines.
