This year, Newcastle’s famous Continental Christmas Market is returning to Grey Street & Grainger Street. The streets will be filled with a Christmassy atmosphere as traders from across the world present a range of products. With over 50 traders housed in beautiful wooden chalets, we will see a variety of stalls selling food, art & crafts and gifts.

The market brings us a real taste of Europe with traders selling street food from France, Spain, Germany, Holland and many more. Pop over for lunch and sample street food from across the world, or take a stroll through the stalls to buy special one-off gifts for your family and friends.

Saltburn’s Farmer’s Market – Christmas event

Get into the spirit of Christmas while you do your festive food shopping at Saltburn’s Farmers’ Market. Rated one of the best in the UK, this popular market has a huge range of locally produced meat & game, fresh fruit & veg, artisan bread, handmade cheese, locally brewed cider, artisan gin, honey, jams and so much more! Auckland Castle Christmas Markets

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Auckland Castle, more than 40 local food producers and artisan craftspeople will be laying out their stalls as the formal garden is transformed into a festive shopper’s haven! Treat yourself to a plethora of inspiring and unique presents and speciality foods from sweets and seasonal gingerbread to handmade chocolates, jewellery, glassware, ceramics and decorations, and enjoy Christmas music.

Intu Eldon Square – Get in the Christmas 

Come to intu Eldon Square for an enchanted experience with the Snow Lion and Snow Queen, face painting, festive food sampling and much more!

The Snow Lion and Snow Queen will be located in St. Andrews Way, near Debenhams - keep an eye out at for more information and details on the performance times. There will also be free festive face painting for all the family and magical roaming entertainment.

Shoppers will be tempted by the delicious festive menus of the centre’s restaurants at the sampling station, located near Boots and the sparkly new Christmas tree.

Centre for Life - The Polar Express Journey to the North Pole

At the Centre for Life, When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe. The Polar Express Journey to the North Pole is a six minute film based on the inspiring and beloved Caldecott Medal winning children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. Please note: For safety reasons, you must be at least 1.2 metres in height to use the 4D Motion Ride.

Ice Skating at the Centre for Life

The Centre for Life perfect place for a spot of wintery fun with friends and family, skating at Life is a must on your winter check list! Grab your mates and head down to Life where the outdoor ice rink is open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. There's no need to book if you're visiting with fewer than 10 people, just turn up and pay on the day (however, booking is required on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, please see for details.)
