One of only 9 Grade I listed theatres, and described by Sir Ian McKellen himself as his favourite theatre, Newcastle Theatre Royal is one of a kind.
Both a gorgeous neo-classical monument and the home of the very best theatrical performances and culture, the theatre boasts an annual audience of 400 000 and over 400 performances each year. From the most dazzling West End musicals, the crème de la crème of the comedy circuit and award winning-ballet and dance, Newcastle Theatre Royals showcases it all.
It’s little wonder that the theatre has been home to some of the English stage’s greatest names over the centuries – from Keane to Irving, Olivier to Dench and the Hollywood greats Orson Welles, Charlton Heston and Jack Lemmon have all trodden the famous boards.
Whether you’re looking for fun-filled, family-friendly shows, world-class opera or the best Pantomine in the Country, Newcastle Theatre Royals is sure to exceed your expectations.
