Located just south of Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales, Harrogate is a small town with a lot of heart. Once known as “The English Spa”, the town offers a lot of options for rest and relaxation with numerous spas dotted about the town. Although it is a spa town, Harrogate can also offer you an active stay with How Stean Gorge and many trails available.

With a 200-year history in spa treatments, Harrogate is the best option for a rejuvenating experience in the north of England, including 4 luxurious spa options with award-winning choices among them. The historic Turkish Baths Harrogate is the flagship experience for spas in the town, with authentic Victorian Turkish baths combined with contemporary treatments.

Before dipping into Harrogate’s regenerative spas, how about working up a sweat in How Stean Gorge? Offering the big five of activities within the region: caving, abseiling, gorge walking, high wire adventure courses and canoeing. The gorge is the perfect spot for keeping active during your time in the town, with caving giving you the chance to see all of the local wildlife like otters, deer, and cave spiders!

Trail walks in the region give an alternative to active life in Harrogate that isn’t quite as extreme as those on offer in the gorge, with cycling trails available as well.
