Having recently been restored to its former glory, Greenhead Park is the full Monty when it comes to a fantastic family day out.
There’s plenty of activities to keep younger members engrossed – with not one, but two exciting playgrounds. Older kids can get to grips with the zip wire, climbing wall and play tower while tots will love the climbing net, tunnel and swings in their newly restored play area. There’s also plenty of comfortable places to sit, watch and natter while the kids have fun. When it’s ‘timeout’ you can access more sedate traditional park pursuits such as the ornamental lake –ducks don’t just feed themselves you know!
Greenhead Park’s paddling pool has long been a summer hit, welcoming small splashing feet since the 1930’s. But the real jewel in the crown must be the park’s charming miniature railway which runs a third of a mile there and back, from the Park Café Refreshment Rooms. (Open from March and at Bank Holidays).
