Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art presents changing exhibitions of new work by artists from around the world, bringing new art to new audiences.
Situated on the top floor of the library, this space is one of Sunderland’s hidden gems. It offers opportunities to emerging and established artists to present work at critical points in their careers and audiences the chance to see the stars of tomorrow today.

The gallery is on the top floor of Sunderland City Library & Arts Centre in Fawcett Street, two minutes walk from Sunderland City Metro and Railway station with Metro access to all parts of Tyne & Wear and rail connections to the national and local rail network. The station is 25 minutes by rail or Metro from Newcastle Central.

Disabled Access
The gallery is accessed via lift, stairs or escalator and is fully wheelchair accessible. Toilets, including a disabled toilet are available on the top floor. Baby changing facilities are available on the Library Floor. The gallery has a minicom set up to accept messages - a member of staff will get back to you as soon as possible.
