Customer Services

At the very heart of our business, our fantastic Customer Services teams are essential to our continued success. So, whether you're a Gateline Operator, or Customer Service Assistant, a member of our Despatch team or a Revenue Protection Assistant, you'll deliver some proper Northern personality and a real sense of friendliness.

Ticket Office

A huge percentage of Northern journeys start at one of our Ticket Offices. Which means, this is our first opportunity to wow our customers, whether it's a leisurely Sunday lunchtime or a manic Monday morning rush hour.

There are some real Northern Stars in our business. That's why we came up with a monthly award called just that - to let people like Chris, here, know just how much we value their efforts to keep our customers happy.

What we look for in our Station teams

Delivering customer service the Northern way is about more than just having experience in a similar job. It's about an unfailing dedication to the customer experience that you can demonstrate even under pressure. And that takes incredible communication skills to empathise with people who might well be in a big hurry, as well as the organisational skills to manage your work in line with our processes and guidelines.

How to apply

First of all, have a look at our current vacancies area to see if there are any opportunities near where you live and you can apply online from there. If not, you can register to receive a vacancy alert and we'll send you an email to let you know when something suitable comes up.

Once you've applied, we'll make sure you're kept up to date with each stage of your application. After the closing date, you'll be invited to take a five-minute online questionnaire looking at how suited you would be to working in these types of roles. We'll then shortlist for interviews and all those invited will be notified at least a week in advance of the respective interviews.

What happens next?

Finally, if successful, you'll be considered for any vacancies that are currently available, and if we're not able to offer you a role straight away, we'll place you in our Talent Pool and you'll be considered for any forthcoming opportunities for up to 6 months.
