Great news, we’re improving Castleford station! Significant improvements and enhancements will be made to Castleford railway station, providing a more attractive and welcoming gateway to Castleford town centre.

What’s happening?

The new station building will have high-quality passenger waiting facilities with a ticket vending machine, a disabled toilet and sheltered cycle parking. The station car park layout will be remodelled to allow for easier pedestrian, cycle and accessible access.  There will also be a significant upgrade of the subway link to nearby residential areas to the south of Castleford town centre, including the installation of CCTV

The next stage of construction works will begin in February 2020 and be completed during autumn 2020.

We will be creating some additional spaces in this car park while the station improvement work is carried out.
To do this we will have to close the car park from 18:00 on the Thursday 12 March 2020 to 6:00 on Tuesday 17 March 2020.

The closest alternative parking is at Castlefields car park and during the period above, valid permit holders will be able to park there free of charge by displaying their permit. Below is a map showing the location of Castlefields car park, together with a suggested walking route to/from the station car park.
